Did you know that you can offer a freebie in exchange for a follow on Instagram?

Using our popular ”Check Follower” feature, you can check if the person is following your Instagram account... so you can grow your following with a freebie or offer!

 

Here's how to set it up:

  1. Create a Reel, post or Instagam Story as you normally would. Remember to mention your freebie or offer in the call to action in the content or caption!

  2. Build your automation in Manychat, using the "Follower Check" template in this free template pack. Make sure you've upgraded your account to Pro!

  3. Set up your keyword trigger in your automation, matching your CTA in step 2.

  4. Post your Reel, and relax as Manychat does the work to grow your followers! Before sending your freebie, your automation checks if the user is following your account.

  5. Manychat sends the freebie to them if they follow you. (Or it asks them to follow you before releasing the freebie)

Hey @Justivyke ! It’s only available on Instagram for now! Have you tested it out on IG?

So, how does this work for a person who Unfollows and then Re-Follows? I just tested it for myself and I unfollowed my business profile and then re-followed and I was able to get the discount?

Yes, it works by detecting if an account is following you… If they aren’t following you, it will check then send a message to ask them to follow to receive the discount.

If you’re asking if it can detect if someone unfollowed then re-followed you, then no, it can’t do that (yet)! @thequirkymouse 

Thanks!! Yeah, the issue is that a person can go and unfollow me and then immediately come back and refollow and still get the discount :-/

Even if they’ve previously unfollowed you, the discount is “gated” by the follower check, so they have to re-follow you to get the discount.  So it works to incentivize the following.

But you could also ask for a follow AND an email address, so even if they do unfollow you, you can still add them to a list you own @thequirkymouse 

@Angela Allan Thank you so much!!! Yeah, the issue I was testing is that someone who wants the discount immediately goes to unfollow and then immediately refollows to then get it! But I like the idea of the email address!!!! Thank you so much!!!!

I used this feature for the first time. And my IG insights show no  new followers from my post which is not normal for me. Does using many chat disable this insight or did all of my commenters happen to already follow me?

Create the Freebie: 

Design and create the freebie using tools like Canva, Adobe Spark, or other design platforms.Ensure it’s high quality and provides real value. many more other ways to gain more followers.
