Confirming email

Hi, I’m just getting back into ManyChat and started building out an automation. There used to be a feature where the bot would auto-populate a person’s email, and it would say something like this “confirm your email below by tapping it, otherwise you can enter a different email.” ManyChat would automatically pull the user’s email address from their account and insert it into the message so the person could tap to confirm it, but I don’t see that any more. Is that feature no longer available? Or am I just missing it? Thanks!

Hey @mikef if I’m not mistaken this feature has only ever worked for Messenger.

For other channels (including IG) the email won’t auto-populate.

In Messenger, for it to work, you need to make sure you set the reply type to ‘Email’ in your Data Collection block.

Hey @mikef or @Gustavo Boregio do either of you know if/how I can at least confirm their email and first name or give them an opportunity to edit the information? I’ve seen the examples in messenger, but wasn’t sure if there was a way to do it in IG messages? I’ve seen a few examples...but maybe I’m confused.

I’ve tried researching this, but I can’t seem to find the right answer. Thank you!

@taylorpruitt what exactly do you mean by ‘confirm’?

What I do is add an extra step to add them to confirm or change the email (and they have to click a button to confirm or another button to change their email.

Or in some cases I also send them a confirmation code or link to click so we can confirm their email and I’m sure I have a valid, working email.
