Hi all,

I would like to sent a follow up message, if someone has received a link, however, has not clicked on it. Do you know how to set up this function manually in the flow?

Hey, @KG91

To enable to do follow-ups, you need to create a flow like this:

Now, in detail:

  1. In your first message, you send something like this “Here’s your link” and a button without the link. Doing that, when the user clicks that button, he/she is activating the 24-hour rule. More information about 24-hour rule: https://help.manychat.com/hc/en-us/articles/14281199732892-How-to-send-messages-outside-the-24-hour-and-7-day-windows-in-Messenger-and-Instagram#h_01JDSTGH8Y6YQR6SNKANX7G237
  2. In your second message, you’re going to send to the user a message with a button with the link. After that, you have to add a tag to the button (see image).
  3. Then add a condition step that says (you should also add a smart delay before the condition block): “If the user doesn’t have the tag “opened website”, then send the follow-up message”

Let me know if that helps! 🙌🏼

Hi Rodrigo,

Many thanks for the fast and very helpful support.

Do I also need to entery a delay for the follow up message or will this be automatically send after 24 hours? This is how my flow now looks like:

hey, @KG91

If you do not set up the smart delay, your follow-up message is sent right away.

For example: You want to “schedule” your follow-up message after 12 hours. You should set up your smart delay to 12h.

In your condition block, the follow-up message should the green dot, not the red.

Hi Rodrigo,

Thank you once again. I have updated the flow, however, something seems to be wrong, as I do not receive the follow up mail in the preview after adding the smart delay. Can you please check what is wrong?

Hey, @KG91

When you set up the smart delay block, “you’re saying” that the next message should be sent past 23 hours. If you set up the smart delay to 2 minutes, the message is going to be sent past 2 minutes.

Hi Rodrigo,

Thank you - so the set up is correct and the last message will be send 23 hours, when someone has not clicked on the link?

Hi Rodrigo,

Once again me - I have switched it from 23 hours to 2 minutes, to see if the follow up message will be sent. However, I have not received an automated follow up message in instagram. So I think something needs to be changed in the workflow?

Hi Rodrigo,

Thank you - so the set up is correct and the last message will be send 23 hours, when someone has not clicked on the link?

@KG91
Yes, it’s correct!

It doesn’t work because Meta limits the comment to 1 by account. You need to test with another Instagram account.

Let me know if that helps 🙌🏼

Hey, @KG91

A little correction:

You need to put the smart delay before the condition block.

Hi Rodrigo,

Thanks - So is it now correct?

Hi, I just wanna jump in to this thread and ask what time is the automatic delay for a follow up message if I use the template for Instagram DMs:

Hi Rodrigo,

Thanks - So is it now correct?

Yes, @KG91 that’s correct 🙂

Did you try with another account? Did it work?

Hi, I just wanna jump in to this thread and ask what time is the automatic delay for a follow up message if I use the template for Instagram DMs:

Hey, @Allemog

The follow-up message is sent after 30 minutes, if the user doesn’t click the button.

Hi Rodrigo,

just for my understanding - I should do the preview testing in instagram with another account and not with the same one as before?

Thanks,

Konrad

Hey, @KG91

Select this option:

Hi Rodrigo,

I have tried it with a different account. However, I have not received the follow up message after 30 minutes. The flow looks still like this:

Hey, @KG91

You didn’t receive any follow-up message because your smart delay was set up to 23 hours, not 30 minutes.

Hi Rodrigo,

Many thanks - It works now!

Thanks,

Konrad
