I want to set up a simple automation with the trigger being “user comments on Instagram reel or post”. Then, I’d like the response to be 2 gallery cards with buttons underneath. I’ve been working on this for hours and can’t figure out how to get that trigger to work in the Flow Builder where the gallery cards are. I’ve searched and searched for the answer and can’t find it. I’m sure it’s something SO SIMPLE, but I can’t figure it out. Help?

Yes, I can help you with that

Hey, @harbourbreeze and welcome to the Manychat community 🙌🏼

After you set up your trigger, you have to add a block message as “comment reply” (you also can check this article: https://help.manychat.com/hc/en-us/articles/14281316989724-Instagram-Post-and-Reel-Comments-Trigger), then add the gallery block. It should be something like this:

Note: that blue mark means that that message is going to be sent as a comment reply (not the public comment). Doing that Manychat is “saying” to Meta that you sent that message because the user interacted with you in the first place.

How to add a gallery block?

  1. Add an Instagram block
  2. Click “more”

After clicking “more” you’ll see more options that you can use:

  1. Select the option “Gallery”

Now you just need to insert an image, a title, subtitle and a button.

Here’s an article about the gallery block: https://help.manychat.com/hc/en-us/articles/14281196200604-Content-Block-types#h_01JKAY5JFB77G0QA995R3WDTP2

Let me know if this helps 🙂

rodrigo_silvan Thank you so much for helping me with this! I have the trigger set and now I’m stuck at the step where I’m prompted “Choose First Step”. Do I click on “Content Instagram”? When I do that, it goes to “send message”. If I type in “continue”, something doesn’t seem right. Mine doesn’t say “First Message”, it just says “send message”, and I’m not able to add another arrow to put a block in with a gallery or card. And, should I be doing this in basic builder or flow builder? Does it matter?

@harbourbreeze The one I showed you above is done inside the flow builder. There are some templates using quick automations, but them don’t let you personalize very much and they are quite limited.

Go to the automation tab → new automation → start from scratch

Then, you’ll have to set up the trigger, which is “user comments on post or reel”, then follow my example above.

Ok, I did that. However, when I followed your example, the preview showed that the first message my commenters would get said “Continue”. That’s the part I’m confused about.

Oh, the word “continue” is the text I put in the button. You can change it for whatever you want, @harbourbreeze. When the user clicks the button, it will open the 24-hour window and the gallery will be sent to them instantaneously.

Oh!! Thank you so much!! That is so very helpful. Now I get what you were doing. Is it possible to just simply send the gallery without that first message? or must I have a first message before I can send the gallery?

@harbourbreeze the first message is required to open the 24-hour window. If your intent was just send a link, you could send just one message, but with a gallery block, you need to set the first message as an introductory message, and then the gallery.
