No, that’s not possible. You cannot trigger a message from a new follow on IG.

Thanks for replying.. how are people doing this then? Do you think it’s just an automation or keyword with a message behind it? 

Or can you do it from any other platform? Sorry, I know that you work for Manychat, but if you know of any other way of me doing this automatically? 

Hey @RedT I actually don’t work for Manychat, I’m an Educator and Agency, that’s all. I’m not on their payroll.

So, going to your question…

There are tools out there that do non-authorized automations. They’re not official Meta partners, and their solutions work until they stop working - or the IG account gets banned. Every now and then Meta goes on a witch hunt for these apps, and bans a bunch of them at once.

I personally do not recommend using them, since I’ve seen pretty big IG accounts getting closed for using these ‘illegal’ tools. So I don’t have any app names or services to recommend to you.

Now, we do send thank you + open-ended questions to people who follow on IG though in some cases (mostly mentors, coaching or training businesses). In these cases, we’re doing them manually, no automation. At best, we get a VA to do the initial outreach message on accounts with tons of traffic.

Once people reply we can trigger the automations that we have on Manychat if we want to.
