How does ManyChat work when collecting emails? We would love to set up a funnel where “you put your best email” and our freebee will be sent straight to their email. Instead of sending them a link to sign up to our Freebee, they will automatically be opted in. Is this possible?

Can this work with our platform Groove CM?

Yes you can definitely collect emails and trigger email automations without having the person go to a landing page.

There are 2 ways to do that:

  1. You use Manychat’s email service. It’s not as powerful as other email software, but it’s easy to use, well-integrated and gets the job done!
  2. You add the contact to your email software and trigger automations from there. Manychat has some native integrations with some Email software (Mailchim, ActiveCampaign, etc), and for other platforms, you must use either their API or some service like Make.com or Zapier.

For Groove in particular, I’m not sure if they have an API. I have the software, I just asked their support if they have an API or if it can be done via Zapier or Make. I’ll ping back once they reply.

I’ve literally been scouring the internet for this information for the past two hours. The videos I find on YouTube are from 7 months ago and older and don’t have the same interface I have (I guess it’s updated).

I’m trying to set up the email addresses to go to my Google sheet. I have done the integration and all but can’t seem to find the “User input” all the YouTube videos keep talking about.

I’d really appreciate any help here.

Thanks.

I truly cannot figure out how to have the user imput their email and it be saved and automate a response from their email input?!

@SUNSILK "User Input" has been renamed to "Data Collection" now in the Manychat UI.

Does this help?

i have done these steps and tested the automation… the automation itself works (ie: the person inputs their email address and they get the link to download the thing) but I cannot figure out how manychat actually captures the email addresses? where do i find these after the person has entered their email address?

@amybelair  you can check the profile in Contacts, and clicking in each person's name.

More details here: https://help.manychat.com/hc/en-us/articles/14281215436188-Sending-emails-through-Manychat

it’s not there, that’s the problem.

i don’t see my name anywhere. i’ve gone through the automation with all 3 of my instagram accounts (used them to comment the keyword to get the DMs) and none of them are listed in the contact section

@amybelair are you saving the email to the System field on your flow?

Like this:

yes i am.

so i can see myself as “subscribed” but i had to search for my name. theoretically, when someone signs up for a new thing, they are moved to the top of the list?

also, how do i know what the person subscribed for?

when i click on someone’s name, it just says ‘opted in for email’ but i want to know what they opted in for so i can keep it organized in my email platform

Manychat will take the first subscription time (for the first channel), and have a unified user (so you don't pay twice).

If you sign up for a new channel with an existing user (ie you added email) you won't be at the top.

As for this part:

but i want to know what they opted in for so i can keep it organized in my email platform

You need to use Tags and User Fields to identify your funnels, flows etc.
