If I am the creator of the post but I invite a collaborator, will my many chat automations still work for all comments coming from all collaborators followers?

I’ve noticed that DM automations don’t work if it is a collaboration post. Is this intentional or a bug?

For more context, I tried collaborating with my other account. I own both accounts in the collaborative post. Only the one posting (my main) has a Manychat subscription

Did you ever try it? I’m wanting to post a collaborative post today and use manychat but the other account doesn’t have manychat so I’m eager to know if it would work

Same - our team consistently posts collab posts with other accounts on our team. When I select “all posts” only “Non-collaborated” (normal, solo) posts populate in the window.

Do both collaborator accounts need ManyChat connected for the collaboration to work?

Thanks. Excited to use your service and upgrade to pro if we have a good experience.

I need to know if this works on collab posts asap. Has anyone gotten an answer?

Good q - I reached out. The team is saying it is supposed to be able to work for collab posts (I have a friend who is successfully setting up automations with collab’d posts, but none of my collaborated reels are populating in the selection area to be able to build an automation with them. Below was the team’s response - in short - they’re saying it’s a bug on Meta’s side. Super unfortunate - ultimately, not sure what your experience will be.

“Thanks for reaching out about the issue you're experiencing! I've been talking to our technical team, and it seems a bug on Meta's side might be causing this. We've already reported the issue to Meta's product team, but unfortunately, they can't give us a specific timeframe for a fix.

We understand this can be frustrating, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.  We appreciate your patience and understanding as Meta works to resolve this bug.”

**UPDATE** Problem Resolved

Conclusion - this service does work for collab’d posts (as long as correct settings are linked - see ex. below). There are some glitches that took over a week to work themselves out on our two ManyChat accounts, but they did resolve without action on our end.

(Resolved just 30 mins after commenting above) As a (current trial) paid user all the collab’d reels originally posted from my account are now populating - successfully setup an automation that is working now. Leaving comment above as reference point for people who don’t see all their reels as an option in the future.

Will update if this stops working.

To see this in action - refer to @abistumvoll & @justinstumvoll collaborated insta reels to see.

Example of how the process works -

Bob is posting an Insta collab reel with Susie, Bob needs a ManyChat account that is successfully linked to his Insta. Bob creates the automation via ManyChat and the automation will flow through Bob’s account and leave a comment on the Insta reel when setup correctly. The Insta dm is sent via Bob’s Insta account, yielding an increase in dm’s as well as comments. Note - in our experience, the automation of a collab post is successfully working as both Insta collaborators have ManyChat paid accounts. Not sure if they both need ManyChat accounts, or if just the original Insta posts needs one.

A response from the ManyChat team would be helpful to clarify.

Hope this helps, service is a true game changer!

Great to have an update! Thanks for sharing here and I hope someone from Manychat can confirm if in fact this will work fine even if the other collab is not using manychat or manychat pro-- I don’t see why it wouldn’t but I want to know for sure before I count on it working successfully!

And if you’re deciding this, Manychat, I must say it would be a shame to force people’s collaborators to sign up in this fashion-- much better to let a nonuser witness the magic themselves via a collab, and decide to sign up for trial of their own volition. Current paid users will also not feel miffed about interruptions in their workflow if you make it so this works ok!

Hey everyone!

We tried this today with my team. Someone who doesn’t have ManyChats shared a post on IG with us as a collaborator and… 🥁🥁🥁

… it didn’t work!!

We have to send every person who commented our link manually.

So CAREFUL who shares the post on whose account!!!

Hello everyone. I ordered an advertising integration from a blogger with a million followers who will make Instagram Collab Posts with me. I will be posting, and he will be the co-author. Consequently, I started to research and look for information about the technical capabilities for implementing such...

Just recently, I learned from local manychat alternatives (there are similar platforms in the country where I live) that automation does not work while using Instagram Collab Posts. Therefore, I decided to move away from local companies and try Manychat. I just tried adding a reel in co-authorship to check the automation, and it worked. By the way, the second account was not added to manychat.

Only after this test did I discover this topic and learned from you that it doesn't always work. I would like to be sure that it will definitely work even with mass advertising from the blogger. Otherwise, it would be very disappointing to pay for this advertising and end up with no automation, and the budget would be wasted. The volume of messages will definitely be large, so I am excluding manual responses.

Sooo….If anyone gets more precise information or learns the official position from Meta's management, please share it in this thread.

Currently I have the same problem, my automations worked fine, but a brand came up with the idea of collaborating me on a post and from there many chat tells me all the time error....

I already removed all tagging, collaboration, deleted the manychat ig account, re-added, updated everything, and nothing works, it's frustrating, my business depends on automation, I don't know what else to do.

Hi, I have this probelm. I have a automation to my instagram account. I don´t have any collaborative post and still it shows me that my automation will not work due to a collaborative post and I have no idea what to do with it….

I also have this problem, manychat considers all my publications to be collaborative while I have none, 0! It's still crazy, and it has repercussions, I tried to contact the support I'm waiting for their answers

I really need an answer to this as well!! It seems to be working on previous collaborative posts, but today I posted a reel and the account I am collaborating with has had their followers comment and it is not sending them a DM with link. Weird that it worked in past and all of a sudden isn't today. I wonder if it differs whether it is a photo post or reel???

I have the same problem. I am the owner of the reel and I always get this mistake: "For collaborative posts, the automation does not work with comments on the collaborator`s account". I already set some automations days ago and it worked. What can I do?
