Hi, I have a question about IG/Facebook.

My IG reels are getting recommended on Facebook (not posted, but shown on FB).

Will my automation Comment to DM with trigger word work for the Facebook viewers of my IG reel?

Thank you for reading my question.

Hi, @Bomeline

Yes, it will work.

When your content is shown on Facebook, and if users want to comment using the trigger word, they’ll be redirected to your Instagram account.

Great thanks a ton Rodrigo!

Hi, I am interested in this as well. I actually tried this out and while it does work and sends the auto-DM to IG, it doesn’t redirect to IG account and theres no notification.

Is there a way to enable auto-DM to FB Messenger instead if they are commenting from Facebook? I think there is attrition if a user doesn’t have IG and the message gets lost (which I’m noticing with a lot of my followers and non-followers)

Hey, @longnights021

If your post is on Facebook and Instagram, you can have two automations, one for IG and another to FB Messenger.

Go to your Instagram automation and click on the 3 dots → convert channels

This will duplicate your automation for the channel you’ve choosen

Thanks Rodrigo. Specifically, I am referring to an Instagram post that is “recommended to Facebook” so I am posting on IG but it also gets shown in Facebook (but I didn’t post it there). If a non-follower saw the reel on FB, commented for a link, I noticed that my automation doesn’t send it to them in the FB app or Messenger. If they don’t have Instagram, it seems like they wouldn’t get the DM so I get many comments saying they didn’t receive any messages/links.

Does the above suggestion enable facebook messenger automation for IG video that is recommended to Facebook? Does it work to enable both comments on IG and FB (IG reel that is recommended to FB)?

@longnights021 There are two ways for your reel to appear on Facebook. You can either publish it directly on Facebook or post it on Instagram and let Meta display it on Facebook (I believe you can configure this in the settings).

If you publish it directly on Facebook, you’ll need two automations (one for each platform). However, if you only post it on Instagram and Meta displays it on Facebook, you’ll need just one automation (Instagram automation) because when someone tries to comment on your post/reel, the Instagram app automatically opens.

So, if the user doesn’t have IG, your best option is to publish on IG and FB. This way, you’ll have two “different” posts and two automations (one for each channel).

@rodrigo_silvano Thanks Rodrigo - I mainly publish on IG only and let Meta automatically display on Facebook because this helps my performance on IG to have it coming from one source. For now I’ll publish on both platforms to maximize my reach but are there plans on the roadmap to allow automated messages to show up in FB messenger if the reel was originally from IG (then automatically displayed in Facebook)?

@longnights021 I don’t know. That is a Meta’s limitation 😕
