Hi community, im triying to update my current automation (Instagram) with some edits and when I press update, and error message appears with “stop linked ad in your ads manager before taking this action”.

I have tried countless times, stopping all campaigns in the ads manager but its still not working. Need help!

Hi, @mejia8906.

You have to stop the exact Ad that's linked. 😉

If you deactivate the whole campaign, the Ad will continue appear as active.

Hi @fgaulke, thanks for your help but it dosent solved the issue but anyways I managed to solve it this way:

  1. Stop all the ads that have linked your partner app. You got to Turn-off at the ad-level not only at the Ad set level
  2. Then switch the message template of the specific ad to another method such as start conversations and then Turn-on the ad again and publish and let it go live
  1. A few minutes later, Turn-off the ad and change the message template to the partner app and many chat automation and Turn-on the ad again

When you only turn-off the add, somehow the connection between manychats and IG is still there so you got to update with a new message template and turn-on again so it really disconnects from the automation.

Thanks for the comeback, @mejia8906!

Interesting… last time I did it, just deactivating the Ad made it possible to edit the automation. Maybe something has changed at Meta's side… 😅

I've already saved your solution in case I stumble on the same problem in a near future. 😉

Wish you a nice week!

@mejia8906 mejia8906 YOU ARE A LIFESAVER!! THANK YOU SO MUCH😁

Thanks! I have like 100 ads with that. 😥😥 But hope it works.

@maks.berryagency did this work for you? Did you find another solution? It still hasn’t worked for me. Thanks!

@Emil Xavier Hi. When i changed the automation to something else it didn’t work, still clogged. So had to do sth else. Finally I turned all the ads off, made a copy of the automation and made the new ads with new automation. This took less time.

I couldn’t update it using any of the suggested methods, it kept throwing an error no matter what. Here’s what I did instead:

  1. I first followed @mejia8906’s step: I turned off all the ads, changed the message template, and then turned them back on. Still, I couldn’t update it.

  2. So, I created a copy of the automation, made the necessary adjustments to the copy, and activated the trigger.

  3. Then I turned off the ads again, switched back to the partner app option, selected the new (copied) automation, and published the ads again.

  4. After publishing the ads with the new automation, I was only able to deactivate the previous one to avoid losing the data.

Annoying, but it was the only way that worked for me. Hope it helps!
