Hello,

I’ve set up an Instagram automation using the Instagram Ads Trigger, and created a campaign through Meta following this tutorial:

The campaign shows a lot of engagement, and my Instagram inbox shows that some users have been served the first message in the flow, after which they tapped the Quick Reply button, but no further messages were sent to them from the flow.

My Manychat inbox shows none of these conversations, which seems strange to me, as I can clearly see the conversation in Instagram.

I’ve double checked all the settings, and the preview within Manychat works perfectly. I’ve spent over $200 on this campaign, but can’t show my client any results, which is concerning.

Any suggestions as to why this isn’t working?

TIA,

Wayne

I am having the same issue, Ad quick reply is learn more, Trigger Keyword is Learn more, its not firing, and costing us leads we look like idiots, when we cant respond. Manychat you need better support for your customers

I’ve been running Instagram Ads connected to a ManyChat flow, and I’ve noticed a frustrating issue:

  • When a user clicks the ad, the first message is sent successfully.
  • However, when they interact with the quick reply buttons, no follow-up messages are triggered.
  • Checking the ManyChat contact list, it seems that users aren’t being properly subscribed or progressing through the flow.

At this point, I’m trying to figure out whether this is an issue with ManyChat settings, Instagram API limitations, or something else entirely. If anyone has run into a similar issue or has insights, I’d love to hear what you’ve found!

My issue with the trigger is that now instead of opening DMs, it’s just giving users a little window that says “Send message”.   I was on with Meta support for a couple of hours and they have no clue (no surprise there) why this is happening.  I duplicated a campaign that the automation triggered perfectly, but ad creative had fatigued.  Here are the two images of current and previous.  Any idea what could be wrong? As I mentioned, integration and set-up are the same as the previous ad which worked fine.

Old way - which is what we want to go back to:

Having the same issue with meta ads integration with manychat, ads are getting good engagement but had the enter message issue rather than present first message and no one going through flow. My fear is manychat integration with meta ads has a serious issue. On previewing live ad it appears to work but when live in the wild we have noticed the enter message prompt and really struggling to get any results or have confidence that this integration works consistently and seamlessly.

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share a quick guide on how I fixed an issue where my ManyChat automation stopped working when triggered by Instagram ads. Here’s what I did:

The Problem

My automation was running fine until it reached a certain point—it just wouldn’t continue. After some digging, I discovered that the issue was related to my Facebook Business Manager settings.

What I Found

I noticed that I had two ManyChat integrations in my Facebook Business Manager:

  • Integration 1: Had full permissions.
  • Integration 2: Did not have full permissions.

It turns out that having a duplicate integration, where one doesn’t have the correct permissions, can cause conflicts that stop your automation from running properly.

How I Fixed It

  1. Checked Business Integrations:
I went to Business Settings > Integrations > Business Integrations in my Facebook Business Manager and confirmed I had two ManyChat entries.

  2. Updated Permissions:
I updated the one that did not have full access to grant it the necessary permissions.

The Result

Once both integrations had full access, my ManyChat automation continued seamlessly after the Instagram ad trigger.

Hope this helps anyone facing a similar issue. Let me know if you have any questions or need further details!

I am bummed that this was not our case.  Integration was ok.  Ads won’t trigger DMs (just a “Send Message” box) and user has no idea what to type.

@Autus - dealing with the same issue!

Hi Everyone, Thanks for the collaboration and your insight shared so far.

I’m having some back and forth with manychat support team and their view was my meta ad manychat integration was working due to the fact the meta ad preview link works and presents the first step of the flow….but it’s not as simple as that as we are getting lots of views of our video ad and clicks but not one entry in the manychat flow since our ad was launched 12 days ago. See our preview ad link here. https://fb.me/215uEhV7RK0jROy This works, but here’s what I found today...

I tried something else this afternoon and ran preview tests of meta ad with the preview link method above (which worked) and also used the feed and story notification method from meta ad to see the ad in my instagram feed and stories...both the feed and story preview method inside instagram resulted in the manychat integration flow NOT WORKING as it came up with a prompt to enter a message instead rather than present the first message from the manychat flow.

There's definitely some issues I really can’t explain further having exhausted all settings / configurations on the meta ads and manychat setup, referencing/following all setup instructions etc, but to no avail. I believe 100% there is a setup / API issue somewhere that is causing the wrong behaviour of our meta ad integrated with manychat to cause no conversions and the likelihood is the message prompt is coming up instead of the workflow automation (and the viewer doesn’t know what to do next) when the ad is live in the wild regardless of what we see with the preview ad link method.

I’ve asked support to help me go deeper with this problem and in finding a solution. I’m not overly confident of next steps, but fingers crossed something can be found to resolve this issue, as we were hoping for this to be a core part of our lead gen for our own business and some clients.

If I hear further, I keep this group updated.

Thanks.
