I am trying to find a way to follow up and send a message, if a contact has not responded to a message after 23 hours. I added a button to a message in an Instagram automation, but now I cannot find the option to only send a certain message if the contact as not interacted with the message/clicked on one of the buttons. It is not a ‘quick reply’ but a button, because one of the two buttons leads to a website. I can see the option ‘Follow up if contact hasn’t engaged option’ on the ‘Quick Reply’ option, but not on the buttons. Help would be very appreciated! Thanks, Mareike

@MK_CapeTown If the trigger is a comment on a post or reel, then:

Instead of sending a link in the first step in the buttons - make that button clickable without a link

Link that button with a text field having the link

Link that text field with the smart delay and create follow-up msg.

Pls let me know if this helped😊

Thanks so much for your response, Gosia. Please look at the screenshot, where you see the message that has two options and the ‘next step’ field is that is where I want to add the step that after a smart delay of 23 hours a follow up message will appear if the contact has not clicked on any of the buttons. But I am not sure how to get that done! Thank you 🙂 Mareike

you need to use tags and condition

try this:

I hope this helped😊

Thanks so much, Gosia! This is so helpful! Please see my screenshot below now. I think it looks much better 🙂 More promising!!  And I will check now if it will work after the 23 hours. Do I have to wait that long, or can I test it somehow before the 23 hours?

Just another question, maybe you can assist with that as well, but the automation wont start if I comment wiht the keyword on a post or reel. I checked all the settings, and I did select ALL reels and comments. It only works when I sent a DM with the keyword, then the automation starts. Do you know why that is? Here is also a screenshot of how the automation looks at the start:

Thanks sooo much!!

Mareike xx

@MK_CapeTown The black rectangle should contain a follow-up message (if the contact didn't click on any buttons) .

To test this, change the smart delay e.g. to 1 minute. If you receive a follow-up message after 1 minute, it means the system is working and you can then change the smart delay to 23 hours.

the automation wont start if I comment wiht the keyword on a post or reel - Try commenting on a different reel. You might be testing on the same one repeatedly. You may only comment once.

@Gosia thanks so much for your help! I was able to test it now with a comment - it works! I really appreciate your fast responses, so good. :)

Just one thing still does not work: I changed it as you suggested and added only one message at the end if the two other options are not being clicked. But the last message (your black rectangle box) is still not showing. I changed the ‘smart delay’ to 1 minute and tried it on my phone and on my desktop, but it does not show. Do you know what I am doing wrong? Thank you.

@MK_CapeTown great! I'm happy to help.😊

The profile you are using to test automation likely already has a tag assigned to it. You'll need to remove the tag from the contact or test the automation with a completely new profile. When you receive a message with links, please avoid clicking on any buttons and wait for 1 minute. Then you should receive a follow-up message😊

How to remove the tag from the contact: Go to the 'connats' section and find the profile you're testing automation on. Then, delete any tags that were added while testing.

I hope it helps.

Thanks for your helpful reply @Gosia - I managed to remove the tags, but I still did not get the message that was suppose to arrive after the ‘smart delay’ when I tried it then from my phone. It only worked once when I tested it within ManyChat on my desktop, after receiving the three digit code to test it. If it works in testing mode, will it then also work for users?

Another question, my colleague just now realised that when she typed in the keyword to trigger this automation, that an old automation responded. How can I set that when someone comments with a keyword for a new automation that an old automation does not respond?

thank you for all your help - so appreciated! 😄
