Hi @sync, since you are based in Serbia, your account will not be affected by this change. Please do not hesitate to contact our dedicated compliance team at sanctions@manychat.com if you have any follow-up questions or need additional details, and they will get back to you shortly.
Hi, @Marina I received this message:
Your Manychat account was blocked because it was affiliated with Russia or Belarus, according to the US government's new sanctions regulations. The main issue with the regulations is that we are obliged to ban accounts that somehow provide services to individuals and legal entities based in Russia, even if the business's geolocation is outside of it.
The reason for blocking account is not only the account owner location, but also it’s clients location. Am I right? What about big US or EU Instagram profiles and experts, having clients from Russia? You also block them?
I just want to clarify it to make a decision: I’m based in Portugal, but some of my clients are in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus or Kazakhstan. Should I return to Manychat or better find another platform for my case? Because the last time my entire account with 5000+ leads was removed without prior notification.
Hi @valery_alexeev, I had a chance to discuss it with the Security Team:
In your specific example, Instagram accounts owned by legal entities outside of sanctioned countries are not subject to blocking. This means you can safely connect Manychat to Instagram accounts owned by US or EU businesses or experts and trust their automations will function without issue. However, if the owner of an Instagram account is affiliated with sanctioned countries (e.g., the account represents a legal entity from a sanctioned country), it will be excluded from our platform, even if the Instagram account administrator is physically located outside the sanctioned countries.
If you have any follow-up questions, please reach out to the Security Team directly at sanctions@manychat.com.
