I turned off keyboard input, but users are still sending me messages.

Why isn’t user input off working correctly?

PS - I can’t seem to find an email or contact page for support, so I’m posting it here...

Best way is finetuning the first message's copy… writing something like "choose an option below 👇”.

And that's the only way if you're using the Ad trigger.

If you're sending the keyword as a message via the ad, you could use Data Collection like this:

  1. Set Data Collection as Multiple Choice
    • Create a Custom User Text Field to save the selected option
  2. Set your options
  3. Disable text input
  4. Set a custom message to send if the user sends some free text message
  5. Create a Condition checking if your custom field is one of the options

And continue your flow normally...

This will force the user to select a given option

Hi, @raymondd!

This description is a little misleading… The option only disables keyboard input to interact with your bot. But there's no way Manychat can prevent a contact/user to send you a message.

Thanks for the fast response.

So I have the flow set up to start when someone clicks my ad. I have yes/no buttons to qualify the user.

The issue is the person types “yes” instead of clicking the button, which stops the conversation. Dozens of leads were left in limbo this way.

I suppose I could trigger the flow to continue if someone types “yes”.

Is there another or better method?
