Hi ManyChat community,

I’d love some help with this issue!
I want to set up my flow so that when a user text to me or replies to a question, ManyChat will:

1. Automatically add a tag (manual-chat - i created, added only when client text to me), and
2. End the automation flow so we can continue the conversation manually.

I can’t find a way to add a condition, what’s the best way to do this?

Thanks in advance for your guidance!

@LanahLee if the user stops ‘clicking buttons’ and types something, Manychat will trigger the Default Reply.

On the Default Reply, you can use actions to tag the user and pause automations - so the bot won’t respond anymore and you’re able to intervene manually.

Hope this helps!

Hi Gustavo,

Thanks for your answer, I’d love to make it clearer: I need help setting up my flow:
 • If a user clicks a button (to download a freebie): The automation should continue as normal.
 • If a user replies with their own message (not a button): I want the automation to pause/stop immediately, tag them as “manual-chat,” and let me reply manually.

My problem:
Right now, even if the user replies with a message, ManyChat keeps sending the next automated messages. I can’t always jump in right away, so it feels very “bot-like” to my clients.

Question: Is there a way to set a condition so if a user replies with a custom message, the automation stops, and I can take over?
If they just click the button, the flow continues as normal.

Thank you for your advice!

@LanahLee yes you can set default reply.if any user send you a custom message, you can send them a default reply and at this point add tag to the user, and at this stage you can notify yourself via email.

Hope you got it.if not let me know i will help you step by step with this.

Hello Aafia,

So grateful for your message, here is my previous condition, But it doesnt work .. can you guilde me how to fix this trouble? Is there a way to set a condition so if a user replies with a custom message, the automation stops, and I can take over?

Thanks so much!

@LanahLee set the default and then set condition and actions.

Send me a direct message for help.thanks.

@LanahLee check this condition:

And make sure it’s configured for ANY tags (equivalent to a logical OR) and not ALL tags (equivalent to a logical AND).

I bet that’s where your problem is!
