Track Website Clicks with WhatsApp URL Buttons

Hi Manychat Community! šŸ‘‹

šŸ”˜ Time to Start Pushing Buttons!

šŸ“ URL Buttons are now available on WhatsApp! Now WhatsApp joins our other Manychat channels by allowing customizable URL buttons within your messages.

šŸ“ˆĀ What are the Benefits? The biggest benefit is the ability to track your click through rate within your Manychat flows! Now you can remove the guesswork about which message is working better by tracking how many clicks your URL button has received in the flowbuilder. In addition, you can also track clicks within the Live Chat section of your Manychat dashboard.

āœļø Customizable text: Rather than relying on the updated Manychat text you receive when delivering an inline link (picture below), URL buttons let you customize your text!

šŸ”„Ā Consistency Across Channels: With this update, WhatsApp joins the rest of Manychat’s channels like Messenger, and Instagram where you’re able to send buttons that link to your website or any other URL.

ā¤ļø Do you love this update? Comment below to let us know how this changes your WhatsApp process, and what other features you would love to seeĀ šŸ‘‡

Hmm. It looks like when you have aĀ URL button, you can’t have a regular button next to it. For instance, in other channels, you can have a combination of a URL button and a regular button. But this is currently not allowed in WhatsApp channel. Is this a bug?

Hey there! Thank you for your comment.Ā

Unfortunately this circumstanceĀ is a technical restriction of WhatsApp. For WA, you can put only one URL button or up to 3 normal buttons. Thank you for pointing this out.

Hey David, thank you very much for this!

Ā

Is there any specific measure that I should take to count clicks on those buttons, tho? I’m building a WhatsApp Automation with buttons redirecting to my website directly (no URL shortener, no UTM parameters). I tested the automation with multiple users & saw them clicking on the buttons. Yet the click count remains to 0 for each button.

Ā

Thank you for your help & best!

Tim

For some reason, the url shorting redirects every link to a invalid link… how can I go about this?
