Setup my first automation for a competition using a link to click to enter. the landing page was used with mailchimp and the facebook message works perfectly but the instagram automated message comes up with page not found above and no link to the page.

the broken page works when you click on it but look like it wont to a customer..kind of like having an open sign on your shop and the doors closed.

any help would be great.

Hi @AndyB this is a problem with the landing page and the link, that it’s not rendering the preview correctly.

I’d try to check the configuration of the landing page, to see if you can tweak the OpenGraph settings for social media preview.

I don’t use Mailchimp, so I’m not sure how to set this up there.

But I asked ChatGPT for some guidance, here’s the response:

To ensure your Mailchimp landing page generates proper link previews on social media platforms, follow these steps:

1. **Set Up Social Share Content:**
   - In the Mailchimp landing page builder, locate the **Social Share Preview** section.
   - Click **Edit Preview** to modify the following:
     - **Social Share Title:** Enter a concise, attention-grabbing title.
     - **Social Share Description:** Provide a brief summary of your page's content.
     - **Social Share Image:** Upload an image that represents your page effectively.
   - Ensure the image meets platform-specific requirements; for instance, Facebook recommends images of at least 1200 x 630 pixels.

2. **Publish and Test Your Landing Page:**
   - After configuring the social share settings, publish your landing page.
   - Use platform-specific debugging tools to test how your link previews appear:
     - **Facebook Sharing Debugger:** https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/](https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/)
     - **Twitter Card Validator:** >https://cards-dev.twitter.com/validator](https://cards-dev.twitter.com/validator)
   - Enter your landing page URL in these tools to preview and troubleshoot any issues with the link preview.

By carefully setting the social share title, description, and image within Mailchimp's landing page builder, and verifying the preview with the appropriate tools, you can ensure your link previews display correctly across social media platforms.

As usual, take this with a grain of salt since the information may not be accurate.

But I hope it helps guide you in the right direction ;)

thanks for your help. doesnt appear to have fixed the issue but good to know how to do that. Cheers,

You could also use some URL Redirection tool that allows link preview customization to set a custom image, title and short description of the URL.

I use Switchy for this kind of stuff. It works wonderfully and has some lifetime offers: https://appsumo.com/products/switchy/
