Hi everyone! 👋

I'm running into a strange issue with my automation. In one of my flows, I added a message with just one button as a reply option. But when I test it on Instagram, two extra buttons show up — and those ones doesn’t exist in my flow at all.

Here’s what I’ve already tried:

  • Rebuilt the entire flow from scratch (no copy-pasting)

  • Cleared the Instagram conversation and started fresh

  • Double-checked that no other keyword, trigger, or default reply is interfering

  • Made sure there are no other conditions, fallback paths, or user fields affecting the flow

Even after all that, the mystery buttons still appears

Has anyone experienced something similar? Any ideas what might be causing it?

Thanks in advance for your help! 🙏

@Dóra Halász I suggest you open a ticket with support.

This is most likely a UI problem with Meta causing this. But still, support will be the best ones to help you find a solution.

Thank youu very much Gustavo! :)

Hi Dora! i’m having this exact same issue and it seems you’re the only person who experienced this problem and made a post about it.

Should i contact the support with this same problem or could you tell me please if you solved this issue and how?

Thanks in advance

Hi @AngeloDiTommaso ,

The support was very kind, here is their answer:

I understand that you’re facing issues with duplicate buttons in your automations.

We’ve identified that this problem is due to a bug from Meta, where buttons from earlier steps in the automation are showing up again in later steps on devices using the Android system. Unfortunately, Meta has informed us that they don’t plan to work on a fix in the near future.

I can imagine how frustrating this must be. What we can do is recommend some adjustments to help avoid button duplication.

Please note that you can add up to three buttons at once, and duplication occurs when there’s a block with multiple buttons, followed by a block with only one or two buttons.

The duplicated button is a visual bug, where a button from an earlier step fills the 'empty spaces' in a subsequent block that doesn’t use all three available buttons.

In your case, we suggest either replacing the buttons with Quick Replies or adding new buttons to the message blocks that currently have only one or two options to avoid leaving empty spaces. You can also mix message blocks with Quick Replies and message blocks with only one button (for buttons where you need to add an external link). This setup won't duplicate the buttons either.

You’re incredible Dora, thank you for taking the time to share the solution they gave to you.

So basically we shouldn’t leave any available room to avoid the buttons getting duped, if we follow that subsequent blocks format.

That isn’t too bad actually, we just have to be a bit more creative i guess.

Thank you very much, wish you all thebest 🙏
