I wrote dms to people who participated in my story poll. Manychat counts that as active contacts and bills me for that. But that doenst make sense because manychat was not involved. Whats the sense of that?

Hi, @Carmanic!

When your Instagram account is connected to Manychat, Meta links your entire direct message inbox to the platform through their API. This means that whenever a conversation happens (even if you sent the message manually inside the Instagram app without using any automation) Meta “notifies” Manychat, and that person is automatically added to your Contacts list.

Manychat pricing is based on the total number of active contacts in your account, regardless of whether they entered through an automated flow or through manual messaging. As long as they are active and subscribed in your audience, they count toward your plan limit.

If you do not plan to message those people through Manychat and do not want them counting toward your billing, you can go to your Contacts and delete them. Once they are deleted, they should no longer count as active contacts.

Hope this helps! 🙌

So if I have for example a private chat with a friend it counts as an active account that gets billed? So the solution is to delete that account from the active contact list so it does not count? Did I get that right?

Yup, exactly that
