After setting up my automation, where all comments should trigger towards a DM, to be sent only once; it doesn't work!

Hi, so I’ve set up an automation where I want every comment on my reel to get a DM. With the important condition; that if someone comments 10 times, they only get the DM once.

Everything seems to be set up correctly, but it does not work. Can anyone help as to where the issue lies?

See the setup below:

Hi, @La Fuente!

There's one limitation that's important to know… Every IG user can only trigger ONE automation per Post/Reel, even if other keywords, from other automations are used.

In this case, if you're willing to make your followers trigger an automation many times from the same post, it won't work.

Now, if you wish to use that automation with all your posts and limit it for 10 times per user, it's totally possible:

  • You'll need to create a Custom User Field (Type Number) at Settings/(Automation) Fields

Your automation will look like this:

  1. The condition will check if the Custom Field's value is less than 10

  2. The Action will use Set User Field to increase the Custom Field by 1

This will create an individual counting to each contact you have and won't send anything after the contact triggers the automation 10 times.

Hope this helps! 🙌

Hi Fabio!

Thanks for your info.

So do I understand you correctly that if:
my automation sends a DM towards everyone that comments (without keyword, just every comment), they click the button and get another DM with a link. That even IF someone then comments again, they won’t get another DM?

Hi Fabio!

If the same user comments a second time in the same post, nothing happens. But if the user comments on another post, the automation will trigger again… Therefore, you can use the solution above to limit how many times a user can trigger the same automation (via different posts).
