Hey everyone – I’ve been using the AI Step on ManyChat and while it’s helpful, I’ve noticed it keeps sending these robotic, cringey messages like:
“Have you ever sent me the message ‘READY’?” – which sounds super unnatural.

I want to use AI Steps to detect vague messages like “ready” or “is this real” and route people to the correct automation or process. But right now, the replies it sends are weird and off-brand, and I can’t find any option to turn off the auto-response or customize what it says.

I’ve looked through the settings and even tried editing the AI step logic, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to:

  • Disable those auto-generated replies

  • Send people into a flow without that weird AI chat popping up

  • Just treat the AI step like a filter/trigger, not a “talker”

Anyone know a fix? Is there a workaround, or is this just how the AI Step works right now? Paying $29/month, so really hoping there’s a way to make it cleaner. Appreciate any help.

Hey ​@frankiesmith this is most likely due to your prompt and the way you configured it.

I suggest you try to tweak the instructions to get the results you desire. With Manychat AI this is the only place you can adjust and improve.

If you absolutely cannot get it to work, it may be worth it for you to look into adding a more complex integration that gives you much more control. For example, for my clients we use OpenAI’s Assistants API integrated to Manychat. It works great and we have total control over the integration.
