Auto-DM link for Comments not working

Hello Manychat Community,

I have attempted to set up a rather basic automation of Auto-DM links from comments.

The Automation works, but not how I thoguht it would, in other words, I set it up to send a DM on specific words “Discipline” for example. But I want to set it up so that it would send it ONLY if somebody comments SOLELY the word discipline and nothing else.

In the way that it is now, is that if that word is used in a sentencer, it will still send a DM. For example:

“I love the way that I have been building my discipline.” → Send a DM but I DON’T want it to.

“Discipline” → Sends a DM, and I would like to automate that it sends ONLY in this case, with just the word “Discipline” written in the comments.

I have looked around the platform but couldn’t find anything to configurate it.

I would be very grateful if someone could assist me with that, thank you!

Hey, @JCVadi

I suppose you’re using a template.

There are two types of templates:

  1. Flow builder templates
  2. Quick automations templates

In your case, I’m assuming you’re using the second option, considering the message you wrote.

Don’t you know what type of template you’re using?

Go to automations and check if there is a “live” tag. If so, you’re using the second option, if not, you’re using the first one.

What @Fabio Gaulke mentioned, works for the first option (flow builder), but if you’re using “quick automations”, you can’t exclude words/letters from the trigger.

You can read more about the quick automations here: https://help.manychat.com/hc/en-us/articles/16654065283100-Quick-Automation-Auto-DM-links-for-comments

And more about the flow builder here: https://help.manychat.com/hc/en-us/articles/14281316989724-Instagram-Post-and-Reel-Comments-Trigger

Let me know if this helps 🙂

Hi, @JCVadi,

I think this is a shared pain. 😅

There's no option to select something as "comment is” instead of  “contains”.

There's a workaround, but it's not perfect:

  • Just include common letters that aren't part of your keyword, like…

So, if any phrase is commented with any of the excluded letters, it won't trigger the automation.

Hope it helps!

@Fabio Gaulke Thank you so much for your response, but where can I find this “exclude” these keywords section? Do I have to restart the automation from scratch? It doesn’t show on my screens...

Thank you

No need to restart or recreate the automation… this is indeed a little “hidden”  😅

  • Open you automation
  • Select your Comment Trigger and click on edit at the bottom of the panel:

  • Then click on the little arrow to go to the second step. There it is:

😉

I’m using one of the official templates and have set the keyword trigger to "link". However, despite testing this multiple times (both myself and my team), the bot does not respond to the trigger at all.

Here’s what I’ve already tried:

  • Double-checked the trigger and flow connections
  • Refreshed the integration

  • Unlinked and relinked my Instagram account

  • Ensured I’m using a Pro account

Everything appears to be set up correctly, but it still doesn’t function. I would really appreciate someone taking a look on the backend or letting me know if I’m missing something.

Thanks in advance — I’m quite frustrated and really need support on this ASAP.

Auto dm links not working at all. I've done all the necessary steps. And it's supposed to go live, -it says that it is live.  but I have had many people check it and they do not get the response in their DM's. This is rather frustrating. I need help ASAP.
