Automations Failure to send messages

I've come back to ManyChat because there was a workaround to get the automation to fire and say "hi" to new followers.

The issue I'm now having is that the automation “Say hi to new followers “ it's only working about 40% of the time, which makes the automation redundant because it's taken me double the time to then go through and screen who has received messages and who hasn't been sent messages, so then I can send them manually.

I then found that other automations that I have set for either a comment or a DM for a specific word also isn't firing.

I have tried to follow the instructions to refresh my permissions, the issue is when I try to refresh it tries to log me in again and I have the exact same issue of the failure to log in when I was trying to activate the automation to "Say Hi to New Followers" Before there was a workaround. I end up going in circles.

I have emailed support but have yet to receive a reply.
I have ensured that all triggers are turned on, keywords are spelled properly, and the automation should be running correctly.

I am paying for a subscription to this service that is not working correctly and I should not have to go into the platform to fix it myself as I am paying for a service.

Does anyone have a fix for any of these issues for me?

Hi @Frustrated user , I am sorry to hear your NFDM are not reaching 100% of your leads.  There a few reason why this might happens:

  1. Meta 1 per week limitations: Meta allows only one Follow to DM message per user per week. If a person follows multiple accounts using this feature, they’ll receive a message only from the first account they followed. This rule helps keep the experience safe and free from spam.
  2. The follower is already a contact. If someone has messaged a creator before—via an automation (like Comment to DM) or a manual DM—they become a contact. Existing contacts don’t receive FTDM messages by design to avoid awkward or confusing experiences. For example, if someone engages with a comment to DM automation, and then follows the creator, receiving both automations would feel strange.

All the information is in this HC article: http://help.manychat.com/hc/en-us/articles/23096654243740-Follow-to-DM-on-Instagram-Say-Hi-to-New-Followers

Hope this clarifies.

That doesn't explain why my other automations are not executing.

And ill be verifying the “Meta 1 per week limitations” with my Meta rep next week….

Hi @Frustrated user , if in a addition you are experiencing issues with your IG Comment Trigger —

Here are a few things I’d recommend double-checking:

  1. Instagram permissions A quick fix that often helps is refreshing your Instagram permissions in ManyChat.
You can do this by going to your ManyChat account and clicking Help → Refresh Permissions.
  2. Follow the official IG automation troubleshooting guide
This step-by-step guide covers several edge cases that can cause comment automations to stop firing and is very helpful for diagnosing issues like this:
    https://help.manychat.com/hc/en-us/articles/14281308423452-Instagram-automation-troubleshooting
  3. Check for platform-wide issues
Sometimes this is related to a temporary issue on Instagram or ManyChat’s side. You can check the current system status here:
    https://status.manychat.com/
  4. One-time trigger behavior
Just as a reminder, Instagram comment automations only trigger once per user per post. If the same user commented again, the automation would not fire a second time.

Hopefully one of these points helps you.

Cheers,
