Can't get instagram messages to new followers working

Hi ​@zackssiegel that usually happens when the account is connected through the quick method. Follow to DM only works if you connect via Meta, and for that your Instagram account needs to be in a Meta Business Portfolio.

So I'd check how it's connected in Settings → Instagram. If it says Connect via Instagram, disconnect and reconnect choosing the Via Meta option.

If it's already connected via Meta and you're still getting that message, tell us exactly what it says and we can go from there.

What can I do? My DM on follow function doesnt work as well.

Hi ​@Wolfofpt, that screen is asking you to log in with Facebook, not Instagram. Use the Facebook account that has access to the Business Portfolio where your Instagram account is.

If that screen only gives you the "Continue with Instagram" option, there's a workaround in the official Follow to DM FAQ:

1. Go to Settings → Channels → Instagram → Say hi to new followers → Set up → Update Permissions
2. Copy the URL of the page that opens
3. Replace every "IG" with "FB", except in the "config" part (for example default_business_login_option=IG → default_business_login_option=FB)
4. Open the edited URL and it should give you the Facebook login instead

If your Instagram account isn't in a Business Portfolio yet, add it first in Meta Business Suite (business.facebook.com).

Hi ​@Wolfofpt , since you already tried the workaround from the FAQ and it's still not working, I'd open a ticket with Support at this point. They can check the connection on the account side, which we can't see from the Community.

To make it faster I'd include a screenshot or video of what you see now (the error or the screen where it gets stuck), and mention if your Instagram account is already in a Meta Business Portfolio and which Facebook account you're using to log in.

If they solve it, please share here what fixed it, it can help others stuck in the same loop.
