Charged for "Contacts" ?

Hey ​@Ean Wood if you’re on the legacy plans where you’re charged for total number of contacts (which you probably are), then it’s a good idea to periodically delete old contacts who haven’t engaged in a long time so you keep your Manychat bill lower.

This is particularly true for Instagram contacts, where you have absolutely no option to reengage them at all!

If you delete a contact and they engage again with your content they’ll become a subscriber again. You’ll lose the information that you had before (tags, fields, etc), but the automations should work normally.

Why would it make sense for anyone to pay for old contacts? I thought it would charge each month by the new contacted members. This idea of paying for old contacts is actually blowing my mind. It makes 0 sense to me. Looking for any explanation that makes any sense. ​@Gustavo Boregio 

In some cases it makes sense…

If you have WhatsApp number you can contact them anytime with paid messages.

For Messenger, you have Messenger Lists that you can use to contact users.

Users may have SMS and Email associated with them - which you can send messages to anytime.

And for Telegram you can also contact the audience whenever.

For Instagram in particular it doesn’t make much sense unless you’re using Manychat as your CRM. If you don’t have their phone, email, WhatsApp, etc, then the Instagram-only contact can’t be reached - and in these cases, just go ahead and delete them. ;)

So yeah, even though it’s not immediately obvious, there are reasons to keep and pay for contacts if you’re using more channels instead of only Instagram.
