Default Reply automation not triggering – users don't receive my sequence

Hi everyone,

I have a Default Reply automation set up in ManyChat for WhatsApp. The trigger is configured as "User sends a message" (Default Reply — triggered when a contact sends a message the bot does not recognize as an automation).

The problem: When a contact sends a message, the Default Reply does NOT fire and they never receive my sequence (WhatsApp Service Menu with my intro messages).

My setup:

  • Trigger: Default Reply (user sends unrecognized message)
  • Frequency: set to "every time" (I want it to fire on every new message)
  • Status: automation is LIVE
  • The flow shows 7 Sent / 71.4% Delivered / 0% Clicked — so it sent a few times before, but now it seems to stop triggering

What I've already checked:

  • The automation is toggled ON (blue toggle)
  • It is published (LIVE badge is showing)
  • The Default Reply is enabled in settings

Questions:

  1. Why would Default Reply stop triggering for new incoming messages?
  2. Could another active automation be intercepting the messages before Default Reply fires?
  3. Is there a conflict with Keywords or other flows that might take priority?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! 🙏

Hi @azhibayeev ,

If you want the Default Reply flow to be triggered every time, you need to change this setting, as it is currently set to send every 24 hours:

Another reason why the Default Reply flow may not be sent is if the user’s message triggers another flow, such as a keyword automation, for example.
