Email ask for contact email accept not confirming emails, such as: mail@domain

Please fix.

Best answer by Gustavo Boregio

@j.sandra what’s the exact email addresses examples that are being validated as correct?

email@domain ?

or something like email@doma.in ?

If you got email@domain as a valid email, then that needs to be reported to support as a bug.

But to be able to report it, you need to give them the exact case that you saw so they can replicate the issue.

Hi @j.sandra, try to collect the email info through “Data Collection “ feature. It will check that the user introduce a valid e mail address format. It will automatically  “Retry message if the email is incorrect”

Hope this helps!

I do that, but ManyChat validator accept mail without last comma part, so mail@domanin is valid!

It’s not correct, only mail with this format mail@domain.com have to accepted.

Let’s check it out.

I think this is because ManyChat only checks whether the input looks like an email format. It does not fully confirm that the email is real or working. Their Data Collection doc says the Email reply type validates the input so it matches the correct email format.

So if something like mail@domain is getting accepted, that is likely how the current validator behaves, not a full email verification check.

A practical workaround is:

  • ask for the email

  • ask the user to type it again to confirm

  • or send a verification email and only continue after that

If you want ManyChat to tighten the validator itself, that would probably need to go to support as a product request.

Hi @j.sandra, as @Gustavo Boregio said you should report that issue as mail@domain is not a valid e mail address. You can do testing with your own user to see what the system is accepting and what is not.

Hope this helps!
