Instagram automations stopped working

Hi group!

We’ve been using ManyChat with Instagram for 1 month to automatically send links via DM when users comment on our posts, reels, or stories.

Everything was working perfectly, but suddenly all automations stopped working.

I already tried refreshing permissions twice, reconnecting Instagram and Facebook, and following all troubleshooting recommendations from the documentation and internal help tools, but nothing has worked so far.

I’ve also seen other users reporting the exact same issue on the forums, but I still haven’t found a real solution.

One thing that confuses me is the contact limit. Our posts regularly reach more than 1,000 people per post, so the Pro plan limit doesn’t really make sense for our use case. Even if we upgraded to a higher plan, we could easily reach 8,000 contacts in just a few posts. Are we supposed to constantly delete contacts to keep automations working?

At this point, I’m not even sure whether this is a permissions issue, a platform bug, or a contact-limit problem.

We’re losing leads despite being paying customers, and we still haven’t received a response from support.

Has anyone here actually solved this issue? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hey @Martin Blacutt this is most likely your issue:

You need to upgrade for the automations to continue to work.

And if you’re on the new plans (which you probably are), then you don’t need to delete contacts - this won’t affect your billing.

Hi @Gustavo Boregio I honestly don’t think that’s the issue.

ManyChat is already charging me around $90 for extra contacts, so I’m really confused about what’s going on.

The main problem is that the automations stopped working completely. I’ve already refreshed permissions, deleted contacts, and tried all the recommended troubleshooting steps, but nothing has fixed it.

To be honest, this doesn’t seem sustainable for my use case. My posts regularly reach thousands of people, so even if I upgrade to the highest plan, I could hit the contact limit again in just two or three posts. That really doesn’t make sense for a business using Instagram at scale.

At this point, I’m seriously considering canceling the service and requesting a refund or dispute because the platform simply isn’t working reliably for me.

Hey @Martin Blacutt I suggest you get in touch with support so they can take a look at your case.

That’s actually a good question @Gustavo Boregio  because ManyChat doesn’t seem to have a clear option to contact support directly or chat live with someone.
From my profile, the only option I can find is “Ask the Community,” which honestly isn’t very helpful when the platform is not working properly for a paying customer.
At this point, I’m probably just going to open a dispute and request my money back because I’m really not happy with the service or support experience on this platform.
