Instagram broadcast blocked: "Mass sendings within 24 hour are limited by Meta" — even for 23 contacts

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to send an Instagram broadcast and hitting a wall. Setup:

  • ~140 contacts, all interacted with my automation today (within the 24-hour window)
  • Audience filtered by tag, message set to "Within messaging window"

When I click "Set Live", a red toast pops up: "Mass sendings within 24 hour are limited by Meta, avoid restrictions by using Instagram DM List" — and the broadcast stays in Drafts. No other error.

What I've already tried:

  • Immediate send AND scheduling — both blocked the same way
  • Reducing the audience to just 23 contacts — still blocked
  • Hard refresh, incognito, reconnecting the Instagram channel

Possibly relevant: my keyword automation handled ~400 conversations today (story reply automation), so maybe I hit some Meta sending limit?

Questions:

  1. Has anyone seen this exact block? Is there a daily cap on IG broadcasts/messages that triggers it?
  2. If it's a rolling 24-hour limit — does it reset on its own, and after how long?
  3. The toast suggests "Instagram DM List" — but as I understand Meta paused allowlisting for it in 2024. Is there any current alternative?

Time-sensitive since my contacts' 24-hour windows are closing. Thanks! 🙏

Hey Tal,

1. It's not a daily cap. If it were, dropping to 23 contacts would have gone through. Same block at 23 as at 140, same block whether you send now or schedule, and it never leaves Drafts with an error attached. That's a gate on the feature, not a limit you hit with today's 400 conversations.
2. Nothing to wait for, so don't hold your windows open hoping it clears. That's the part I'd want to know first given your timing.
3. You're right that it's paused. Meta stopped allowlisting for the Instagram DM List beta in Feb 2024 and hasn't reopened it. Accounts approved before then kept access, everyone else gets pointed at a feature they can't enable, which is why the toast reads like a suggestion when it's really a wall.

Worth a support ticket to confirm it's the DM List gate on your account specifically, but I wouldn't wait on the reply before deciding what to do with this batch.
