Instagram Comment Automation not triggering (DM automations work)

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to set up an Instagram Comment Automation, but I can't get it to work.

Here's what I've tested so far:

  • Instagram Professional account
  • ManyChat account is connected correctly
  • DM automations work perfectly
  • Comment automations never trigger
  • Nothing appears in the ManyChat Logs when someone comments
  • Tested with a native Instagram upload
  • Tested with a Metricool upload
  • Tested with "Any Comment"
  • Tested with a specific keyword
  • Tested with a specific Reel
  • Tested with "Next Post or Reel"
  • Tested with comments from another Instagram account (not my own)
  • All Meta/Facebook permissions are enabled

The strange thing is that DM automations work, but comment automations never receive any events.

It almost seems like ManyChat is not receiving the Instagram Comment webhook.

Has anyone experienced this before?

Is there a known Meta issue or is there another setting I should check?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hey Riwan, two things worth checking before you keep tearing the setup apart.

    First, the one that might be skewing your testing: IG comment automations only fire once per user per post. If you've been testing repeatedly from the same account on the same posts, everything after the first attempt does nothing and looks exactly like a webhook that never arrived. Try a fresh account that has never commented on that specific post, or a brand new post, and see if the first comment fires.

    Second, if that doesn't do it, this may not be your setup at all. There's an open issue on the Known Issues tracker here from Oct 2025 titled "Instagram Automations Webhooks Issue," about webhooks not being delivered for some Instagram accounts. Still open, escalated to Meta, no fix announced. Your pattern of DMs working fine while comments never produce a single log entry lines up with it.

    Also worth doing Settings, Instagram, Refresh Permissions if you haven't. That's a different action than reconnecting the channel and it's caught this for some people.

    Unfortunately, none of the suggestions solve the actual problem.

    I've already tested:

    • A brand new native Instagram Reel
    • A brand new automation
    • "Any Comment"
    • A specific keyword
    • A different Instagram account commenting for the first time
    • DM automations work perfectly
    • Comment automations never create a single log entry

    At this point, it doesn't seem like a configuration issue anymore.

    Since I'm paying for ManyChat specifically to use Instagram Comment Automations, I would expect this feature to work. Many other creators are using it successfully, so something appears to be wrong with my account or the webhook registration.

    Could you please investigate my specific account and tell me why comment events never reach ManyChat?

    If this is caused by the known Instagram webhook issue you mentioned, can you confirm whether my account is affected and whether there is any workaround available?

      having the same issue and also some of the automations not firing at all, while others are working fine. I have a simple comment to dm automation and it’s not doing it every time, and not counting them as ‘runs’ on the dashboard.  

      so bascially manychat isn’t doing the ONE thing i need it to do.
