Instagram connection says “account might not support this method yet”

I’m trying to connect a Professional Instagram account to a new Manychat account using “Connect Via Instagram.” I approved access to comments and messages, but Manychat then displayed “Your account might not support this method yet” and returned to the Connect Instagram screen.

In Instagram, “Allow access to messages” is on, and message requests are set to Everyone. The account has never successfully connected, so I cannot use Refresh Permissions.

What else should I check to make this Instagram connection work?

Hi @housefaultfinder_uk!

Since "Connect Via Instagram" is giving you that specific error message, here are a few things you can check and try to get the connection working:

  1. Connect via a Facebook Page: Meta sometimes limits or delays the direct Instagram login method for certain accounts. The most reliable workaround is to link your Instagram Professional account to a Facebook Business Page first, and then choose "Connect via Facebook" in Manychat.

  2. Verify the account type: Open your Instagram mobile app, go to Settings, and double-check under Account/Creator tools that it is explicitly set to a Business or Creator account. Standard personal accounts cannot be connected.

  3. Check Facebook permissions: If your account is linked to a Facebook Page, ensure your personal Facebook profile has Admin access (full control) on that Page.

  4. Try a fresh browser session: Clear your browser cache or try connecting through an Incognito/Private window. Make sure to temporarily disable any ad blockers or privacy extensions, as they can block Meta authorization pop-ups.

If you go through these checks and the account still won't connect, you will need to open a ticket with Manychat support: https://help.manychat.com/hc/en-us/articles/14281086345244-How-to-get-support-from-Manychat

Hope this helps! 🙌
