Hi ManyChat team,

I’m reaching out because I believe my Instagram account issue is directly related to the ManyChat automation I have been using.

I have been using ManyChat with Instagram to send automated DMs when followers comment on my reels (for example, when they request a link/location). The strategy worked very well and helped me grow my account significantly.

Today, my Instagram account suddenly went into a security review. I can still log in, but I am stuck in a loop where Instagram asks me to “remove recent activity and make sure your account looks right.”

Instagram says:

  • 75 posts/reels will be archived
  • 8,099 comments will be removed

The message says changes were made while I did not have access to my account, but I have had access the entire time and I have not seen any suspicious login activity.

At this point, I strongly suspect that the issue has been triggered by the ManyChat automation and the high volume of automated interactions it generated. This appears to have caused Instagram to flag my account and restrict it.

Because of this, I am currently unable to properly use my Instagram account, even though I am paying for a ManyChat subscription that I now cannot use as intended.

I would really appreciate your help in:

  • Understanding why this happened
  • Advising on how to get my Instagram account restored or released from this loop
  • Helping escalate or guide me through resolving this with Instagram if needed

Has anyone from your team seen similar cases where ManyChat automation leads to this kind of restriction?

I would appreciate urgent support, as this is affecting both my business and a paid subscription I am currently unable to use.

Thank you.

The "8,099 comments will be removed" line is the clue here. Those are almost certainly the automated public replies your automation posted, and Meta's spam systems flagged the pattern rather than the automation itself. The things that typically trip it: the same reply text posted thousands of times, links in the first DM to people who never messaged you before, and high sending velocity. Approved tools are allowed, but Meta still scores the behavior like it would any account.

For recovery: go through the review flow and accept it, even though losing the posts hurts, because staying in the loop keeps the account restricted. Then secure the account (password change, 2FA), pause all automations completely for a couple of weeks, and don't fight it with appeals while the flag is fresh.

When you turn automation back on: vary the public reply text (or turn public replies off entirely and only DM), keep links out of the first message, and ramp volume up slowly instead of resuming at full speed. The strategy still works, it just has to look less like a machine doing it.

Hope you get it back soon.
