Invalid Redirect URL when connecting Instagram through Meta for Welcome Messages

Hi everyone,

We’re trying to connect our Instagram account through Meta in order to send welcome messages to new followers.

The issue is that when we go through the Meta connection flow, it asks us to log in through the Instagram account. After completing the process, we get an error saying:

“Invalid redirect URL”

We haven’t been able to resolve this so far.

The problem is that when we try connecting the Instagram account through other methods, we don’t get access to the specific feature we need — sending automated welcome messages to new followers.

Has anyone experienced this issue before with the Meta/Instagram connection flow in ManyChat?

We would really appreciate any guidance on:

  1. Why the “Invalid redirect URL” error happens
  2. How to fix the Meta connection process
  3. Whether there is another valid way to connect Instagram while still enabling welcome messages for new followers

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi, @maorkertsman!

This is a Meta bug that occurs with some accounts…

However, there is a workaround that is working for some users:

  1. When you click the “Update Permissions” button, you’re redirected to business.facebook.com.

  2. Copy the URL from your browser and paste it into a text editor (like Notepad.

  3. Replace every occurrence of “IG” in the URL with “FB”,
(except for the part that contains “config” - don’t change that one!)

  4. Copy your new modified URL and paste it back into your browser.

That’s it! You can now connect to Facebook, and everything should work…

Hope this helps… 🙌
