Issue with "Sai Hi to New Follower" automation - Can't ask for email

Hello guys,

I'm setting up an automation to send a DM to new followers.

My goal is to collect their email address in exchange for a freebie.

However, after the first welcome message is sent, it seems the only option available is to add a link (screenshot)

I cannot add a "User Input" step to ask for and collect the user's email address.

The conversation flow stops after the first message.

Is this a bug, or am I using the wrong feature?
How can I create an automation that DMs new followers and then asks for their email?

Thank you for your help!

Hi, @CamillaR!

The “Quick Automation” template is very limited. Best alternative would be building your automation from scratch wit the “original editor”:

IMPORTANT:

  • Leave the trigger block empty.
  • Set the first message block as Private Reply:

And after you finish the flow as you wish, just select it instead of setting a new one up:

Hope this helps!

Hi Fabio, thanks for your help.

I tried doing what you suggested, but “new follower” doesn’t appear among the initial triggers.

So I left it empty. Then I followed your suggestion and set it to “existing flow,”

It seems ok, but never run once, even if I made multiple tests with new accounts.

I don’t want to take advantage of your availability, but you’re being a huge help.
Thank you.

That’s the way (leaving the trigger empty).
But make sure to set the first message block as Private Reply. Otherwise it won’t work. 😉

Also… it only works to accounts that never followed you. If you’re testing it with some other account (unfollowing and following again), nothing will happen.
