Live Chat Sending/Receiving Failure & Automation Testing Difficulties (Instagram DM)

I’m implementing Instagram DM automations and encountering two main challenges with ManyChat:

  1. Live Chat Functionality:
    Manual replies via the ManyChat Live Chat panel consistently fail to send, and incoming messages don’t reliably appear for agents. This makes direct human takeover difficult during setup and testing. It asks me to contact support everytime I try to send a message via the ManyChat Live Chat interface.

  2. Testing Automation Flows:
    When trying to preview/test flows before making them live - such as sending test messages from another Instagram account to the preview/test number - the automations frequently do not trigger. This limits my ability to fully test and debug the experience before launching it to real users.

Main Questions:

  • Is there a workaround or proven method for reliably testing Instagram DM automations before going live?

  • Has anyone found a solution for live chat sending/receiving issues, or is this currently a platform-wide problem?

  • What are best practices for full end-to-end QA and staging without exposing the bot to the public?
