I made Facebook and Instagram automations to trigger on a new comment on any post. I want to reply to them manually therefore my Next step in automation is just Mark conversation as Open.

These conversations appear in Live Chat but I cannot respond and get “User hasn’t responded to your Comment Automation yet, so you can’t message them in Live Chat.” error message.

How do I enable responding to the comment via a comment manually? I do not want to automate these comment replies just yet and I don’t want to message them, just a plain manual comment reply. I also want to make sure I have just one place with “tasks” so I can reply to both messages and comments from one place (Live Chat) and it responds to the corresponding channel (Facebook / Instagram messages / comments).

To enable the live chat conversation, the user needs to interact with you via direct message. Therefore, when someone comments on your post, at least the first message should be automated, encouraging the user to reply or click a button.
I do not see another way to manually enable this conversation inside ManyChat without this initial interaction from the user in direct messages.

You can’t do that 😕

Once the user comments on your post, to be able to open the 24-hour window, you’ll need to send them, at least, one automated message with a button. This way, the 24-hour window will open and you can, manually, answer and continue the conversation.

 

Regarding the public comment replies, you can turn off the automatic comments.

So if I got your replies right then:
1) I cannot manually reply to a comment
2) Only way is to reply automatically with a predefined message that prompts the user to message us
3) When they message us, then we can chat
