I track every new follower and I noticed that manychat is not consistent with profiles it sends the automated welcome message to. on my recent 55 followers manychat sent the message to 23/55 (42%) of new followers. Is this common or is there a fix for this?

Essentially if someone follows you, then unfollows, then follows again - they won’t receive the automated DM. It will only activate on the first follow.
Having said that Meta also restricts the Follower to DM feature to one message per user per week. So if a user follows multiple accounts in one go, who are all using this feature, only the first account they follow will receive the message. This is a Meta restriction, not a Manychat one.
