It hardly ever works; regarding the DM-on-comment automation, out of every 10 comments, only 2 get the automatic reply plus the DM—the other 8 get nothing, as if they didn't exist.
The DM automation that triggers when someone follows me isn't working either; not a single message has been sent in two days.
I'm starting to wonder what the point of paying for this is.
I contacted support, and the only thing they managed to do was run a random test using a fake comment—and they got lucky because it actually worked in that instance. Some test, relying on just one comment; clearly, they really know their stuff when it comes to data, statistics, and probability, right?

Two separate problems here, worth splitting.
The follow trigger going silent is a known issue right now. There's a current Meta bug affecting new-follower automations on some accounts, a moderator linked the status page incident in another thread a few days ago. Nothing on your end fixes it, it's on Meta's side.
The 2-out-of-10 on comments is worth diagnosing though. Check whether the 8 missed commenters exist as contacts in your inbox at all. If no contact was created, the comment event never reached the tool, Meta just didn't deliver it. If contacts exist but nothing sent, look at the once-per-user limit (anyone who triggered that automation before won't trigger it again) and whether the misses were replies to other comments instead of top-level comments. That breakdown tells you whether it's your build or Meta's delivery, and support can't argue with it either way.

Just as a reminder, Instagram comment automations only trigger once per user per post. If the same user commented again, the automation would not fire a second time.
