I am managing a manychat for a client which I set up, I hadn’t logged in a a while. there is an active keyword on instagram but when I log into Manychat with their log in details, it shows nothing - like there is nothing set up.

Did you check if there's nothing active in Settings/(Channels) Instagram?
Also… Other automation tools could be connected to an IG Profile. Even Meta has some rudimentar automation possibilities (https://business.facebook.com/latest/inbox/automated_responses).
