Hi there!

I followed the instructions in “Remove Contacts To Reduce Your Monthly ManyChat Cost Initially” from the School of Bots guide (purging unengaged contacts older than 90+ days for both Messenger and Instagram).

I’ve attached screenshots below:

However, I’m now noticing that some conversations from just a few days ago are showing as unsubscribed, which means we can’t message them back.

I’m trying to understand:

Is there a setting or step in the purge process that could could have caused this?
Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks so much!

@VeronicaA once you unsubscribe them, they’re no longer reachable in Manychat. You can try to contact them through the Instagram app if you’d like.

As a general rule, you should only delete/unsubscribe contacts if you are 100% sure they’re no longer of interest to your business. If you want to know their history or anticipate that they may become customers later on, you should definitely not delete subscribers.

Hi @Gustavo Boregio, from the School of Bots website it says:
- **When To Use This:** If you have a Manychat account with contacts on it, but you’re not doing anything with those contacts now and would like to reduce your monthly bill on Manychat by removing these contacts (but keeping their data.)
- **How This Works:** We will purge anyone who hasn’t chatted with you in the last 90 days.
- **What To Do After You Purge Contacts For The First Time:** It’s totally optional for you to keep doing this, but in case it’s helpful, *our* ongoing process is to do this **every 90 days.**

I’ve been doing this process every 90 days for the past 2 years to reduce our monthly bill and have not had any issues until now.

I followed all the steps and set the filter to last interaction was more than 90 days ago as the steps indicated.

Based on my screenshots, have I done it incorrectly?

Here is a direct link to the steps I followed: https://school-of-bots.notion.site/If-Applicable-Remove-Contacts-To-Reduce-Your-Monthly-Manychat-Cost-Initially-18284c0a7a0b80679e03cd535d728248

Should I no longer do this every 90 days? We’re over 5000 contacts in manychat.

This part is really important:

… but you’re not doing anything with those contacts…

Not sure what the issue is though… What exactly do you want to do with this contact?

Hi @Gustavo Boregio ,  we can no longer chat with them.

The last conversation with her was last week, since then I did the manychat purge and I’m not sure why this contact was unsubscribed if I set the filter to last interaction was more than 90 days ago. We communicated with her less than 90 days ago. Why was she unsubscribed?

Based on my screenshots, have I done it incorrectly?

Do you suggest no longer purging manychat subscribers every 90 days? We’ve been doing this to reduce our monthly bill.

It would seem you removed people that you shouldn’t have removed.

I suggest you trace your steps back to see exactly what you’re doing and how, and see if you deleted anything that you shouldn’t.

If you find a bug or believe that the segmentation isn’t working correctly, report it to Manychat support.
