Luke T

Hi ManyChat Community and team,

I need escalation to a human/technical team for an Instagram Follow-to-DM trigger issue.

Problem:

My Instagram “Say hi to new followers” / Follow-to-DM automation is LIVE but never triggers.

In the automation Activity, it stays at 0 / n/a after multiple test follows.

Other Instagram automations Do work (e.g., comment triggers fire), so the channel is partially functional.

Account

IG handle: @luketencate

The automation was working fine, I recently verified the IG account (Blue check)

Around 12/26/2025, it stopped working.

In Instagram Accounts Center → Apps and websites, I see “Manychat-IG — Expired on 12/26/25.” After multiple reconnect attempts it still shows as Expired.

Troubleshooting already completed:

  • Rebuilt the Follow-to-DM automation (deleted/recreated, republished, confirmed LIVE).
  • Verified Instagram “Connected tools / Allow access to messages” is ON.
  • Removed ManyChat from Meta Business Settings → Integrations → Connected apps, disconnected IG inside ManyChat, and reconnected (also tried in Incognito).
  • Tested with multiple accounts; also aware of Follow-to-DM weekly limits—my test accounts are not hitting those limits.
  • “New enhanced connection” confirmed during refresh permissions
  • Within meta business suite Integrations -> conversion routing nothing is present there which is different from the loom the chatbot provides. However In connected apps manychat is shown and instagram permissions are allowed. Compare this screenshot with the loom “Leads Access” does not even exist in the loom. (Maybe something fundamentally updated with meta breaking things?
    Loom from your team

  • Despite all of the above, no follower events are recorded in ManyChat Activity.

Request:

It appears the new follower event/webhook subscription is not being delivered or not registered for my Instagram channel, even though comment events are delivered.

Please:

Confirm whether follower events are being received for @luketencate on your side, and

Re-register/refresh the Instagram follower event subscription (Follow-to-DM trigger) for my connected IG channel, or advise the exact steps to force a new valid authorization if you can see it is still expired.

I can provide screenshots of anything needed. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Best,

Luke TenCate

Hey @Luke T It appears that you have gone through the troubleshooting steps, and from the Community, I don't think there are any additional suggestions to help you.

I suggest you contact support; they're the only ones who have backend access and can help you debug the connection issue.

I got in touch with someone from manychat a few days ago, here's the reply:

At the moment, the behavior you’re experiencing appears to be related to an issue on Meta’s side that is affecting the Follow to DM functionality. Our team has already identified this behavior and escalated it, and we’re currently working closely with Meta while they investigate the root cause.

The investigation is ongoing, and as soon as we receive any updates or confirmation of changes on their end, we’ll reach out to you right away here. For now, there’s no additional action needed on your end.
