SMS Automation Won’t Trigger From Adding Tag.

Twilio Issue? My SMS automation won’t trigger when I add a tag. The trigger is enabled. I added the contacts manually. These are one on one clients who would like to receive check-ins from me. The first message is the SMS opt-in. But I can’t get that message to send.

I’ve been reading the instructions, but I’m missing something. The automation works in the app preview. It’s triggers I need to understand how to resolve.

Hey @mgerencser so you need to opt them in BEFORE sending them the first message.

If you’re adding them manually, you should be able to opt them in.

How’s your exact process to get phone numbers into Manychat?

Thanks @Gustavo Boregio . I am manually typing the contact, including phone number, into ManyChat. Then I am setting the tag to initiate the automation. This is my confusion. I have permission to text them as these are my one on one clients. I manually type in the contact. I check the box saying I have permission. What more is needed to initially establish permission that’s the least work for my clients?

The Contact says “Opted in for SMS”.

The message apparently goes out according to the chat history. It shows tag added, then the outgoing opt-in message is sent. But it’s not getting to the phones, even my phone. This is why I’m wondering if it’s something with Twilio settings.

@mgerencser have you done the 10DLC setup in Twilio? This could be the issue.

You’re right, @Gustavo Boregio , I wasn’t fully registered for 10DLC at Twilio. I had filled out the campaign form, but I guess it never went through. I just did it again. Now it says I completed the US A2P 10DLC registration process, and that I’m now pending campaign vetting.

I appreciate your help here. I’m just trying to set up this small tool myself before seeking interim automation support for the rest of the business.

Happy to help @mgerencser !

10DLC is a pain in the butt!

Hope you get it sorted quickly!

@Gustavo Boregio , I registered the 10DLC, but it seems to be hanging with no action (again). So I opened a ticket with Twilio. This time I got a screenshot of the “congratulations you completed your registration process” screen and sent it to them.

@Devtrest , the contacts are showing they are opted in. The tag was added manually one by one. One big problem is that the phone number is not actually 10DLC registered as I thought it was. I’m working with Twilio to resolve it.

The Twilio website and service is very difficult to navigate. Though their AI is quite good. Hopefully the ticket will bring some resolution. I appreciate your kind attention as this is very new territory for me.

Yes, 100%!

And 10DLC is even more difficult.

The 10DLC campaign approval usually takes a few days/weeks. If you just submitted, it’s most likely still not approved; it’s probably ‘In Review’.

There are 2 approvals for 10DLC: brand approval, and campaign approval. You probably have brand approval, but not campaign approval (this is the one that takes longer).

You won’t be able to send SMS until it’s approved, unfortunately.

My campaign was rejected. Someone from Twilio will contact me about it in 5-10 days. Just an update.
