⚠️ Stuck in Meta–ManyChat Permission Loop: “You can’t log in with this Instagram account”

I’m unable to reconnect my Instagram Business Account (@bencorde) to ManyChat because the Meta authorization page only shows the Instagram login, not the Facebook login required for the new API.

Every time I click “Update your Instagram permissions to say hi to new followers,” it sends me to Meta’s “Authorization Request” screen → I log in with Instagram → and get this message:

“You can’t log in with this Instagram account. Try using a Facebook account that you know is connected with this Instagram account.”

I’ve tried everything — clearing cache, different browsers, devices, removing/re-adding ManyChat in Business Integrations, confirming admin access, and linking my Page + IG correctly.
The issue persists because my account is still connected via the old Instagram OAuth API, which Meta deprecated in 2024.

ManyChat chatbot confirmed the old API connection (ticket #399766) and said the issue needs manual migration to the Unified Instagram Onboarding Flow — but I haven’t received a response.

I need assistance from Meta or ManyChat to:

  1. Migrate my connection to the new API.

  2. Restore the “Log in with Facebook” option on Meta’s authorization screen.

  3. Reactivate my automations (“Say Hi to New Followers” and others).

This issue is blocking essential business automations and appears to be affecting many users still stuck on the old connection.

Anyone else has experienced this?

Am having the same issue...

I am experiencing this too and have tried all the above to no avail. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Have been waiting to hear back from Manychat support on this for 2 days.

Hi, folks!

This is Meta known issue and they are working on it. Unfortunately, there's no estimate date for a solution.

However, @Moz shared a workaround that is working for some users so far:

  1. When you click the “Update Permissions” button, you’re redirected to business.facebook.com.

  2. Copy the URL from your browser and paste it into a text editor (like Notepad.

  3. Replace every occurrence of “IG” in the URL with “FB”,
(except for the part that contains “config” - don’t change that one!)

  4. Copy your new modified URL and paste it back into your browser.

That’s it! You can now connect to Facebook, and everything should work perfectly!

Hope it helps.

THANK YOU THANK YOU! You are a blessing!! I was going out of my mind trying to figure this out, I couldn’t start on my follower ads for 2 days! This WORKED! I’m so happy.

For anyone reading this, note that you have to replace about 3 “IG” with “FB” including the 3DIG which I didn’t replace because it looked like DIG.

But when the new URL kept redirecting back to “Log in with Instagram”, I went back to the URL and changed 3DIG to 3DFB, copied the whole URL and viola! Got in! YES!

THANK YOU!
