Hi everyone 👋

I have a question about running an Instagram account in two languages (Dutch & English) and I’d love your advice.

My idea is to keep each Reel in one single language — so a Reel will be either fully English or fully Dutch, not mixed.
The captions, voice-over, and text on screen would all match that one language.

My questions are:

  • Is it wise to run one Instagram account in two languages?

  • Does this affect reach, engagement, or the algorithm negatively?

  • Are there best practices or tips you’d recommend when doing this?

I’m curious to hear your experiences or what has worked for you.
Thanks in advance! 🙏

Hi, @Yoga Inner Yu!

In my opinion (based on test I made with some clients), best scenarios is always separate in in two profiles. One just for the Dutch content and other for English.

This is mostly due to Meta’s way to test and spread content. If you mix both languages, 50% of the content could be neglected from your mixed audience. This will impact directly to your profile’s content performance.

If you separate it, the algorithm will try to show the content to users like the ones that already follow your page and have similar interests.

This has always worked better for my tests.

Hope this helps!
