Unable to Connect Facebook Page to ManyChat

Goal:
I want to connect my Facebook Page to ManyChat so I can build Messenger automation flows for my Facebook Ads.

What Happened:

  1. During ManyChat onboarding, I was prompted to connect a channel.

  2. My Facebook Page did not have an Instagram account connected, so I created a new Instagram Professional Account and linked it to my Facebook Page.

  3. After connecting Instagram, ManyChat successfully created a workspace under the Instagram channel.

  4. However, when I try to connect the Facebook/Messenger channel, the connection does not complete.

Current Behavior:

  • ManyChat can see my Facebook Page.

  • My Facebook Page appears in the permissions and integrations.

  • I have Full Control access to the Facebook Page.

  • I am the creator and only administrator of the Page.

  • The Page is properly connected to my Facebook account.

  • ManyChat is listed under Facebook Business Integrations.

When I click the "Connect" button for Facebook/Messenger:

  • The button shows a loading animation for a few seconds.

  • No pop-up window appears.

  • No error message appears.

  • No new screen loads.

  • After a few seconds, the button simply returns to its original "Connect" state.

The connection never completes.

Additional Findings:

  • Instagram connection works successfully.

  • A workspace was created for Instagram.

  • Facebook/Messenger connection does not work.

  • The issue appears to be specific to the Facebook Page/Messenger channel only.

Possible Cause:

I previously used ManyChat with an older Facebook Page that has since been deleted.

One possibility is that an old ManyChat authorization, workspace, or page connection is still linked to my account in the backend, causing a conflict when attempting to connect the new Facebook Page.

Expected Behavior:

When I click "Connect" on the Facebook/Messenger channel, ManyChat should authorize the Facebook Page and create a Messenger workspace just like it successfully did for Instagram.

Actual Result:

Instagram channel connects successfully and creates a workspace.

Facebook/Messenger channel does not connect and no workspace is created.

This type of loading loop usually happens when there is a permissions misalignment within Meta's backend, especially after linking a newly created Instagram Professional account.

 

You can try the following steps:

  1. Group your assets in Meta
    Go to your Meta Business settings and ensure you have a Meta Business Portfolio created. You need to add both your Facebook Page and your Instagram account into this same portfolio so they are officially “tied together” within the same business structure.
     
  2. Reset the connection in Manychat
  • Remove all the channels that are currently configured in your Manychat account.

  • Re-add the channels, but change the sequence: connect the Facebook/Messenger channel first.

  • Once the Facebook connection is successfully completed, proceed to add your Instagram channel.
     

Starting with Facebook first usually helps Manychat clear the authorization block and recognize the entire asset bundle properly.
